AAP Suffers Major Blow as Raghav Chadha and 6 MPs Join BJP
A political turn of events of considerable significance is that of Aam Aadmi Party’s chief and Rajya Sabha Member of Parliament, Raghav Chadha, who on Friday, April 24, 2026, formally quit the party. With him are six other Rajya Sabha members, namely, Sandeep Pathak, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, and Swati Maliwal, among others, who decided to join the ranks of Bharatiya Janata Party. According to a press statement by Chadha, he was “the right person for the wrong party,” adding that the AAP had deviated from its ideological base. Having all the seven Rajya Sabha members leave the party as a group allowed them the required two-thirds majority to merge with the BJP without disqualification for defection.
